IIT Bombay is perhaps rated as topmost institute for aeronautical engineering branch. Here to get admission one needs to be around top 1000 if within 500 then better.

No, B.Tech in aerospace / aeronautical engineering is similar to any other branch of engineering. A student needs to take PCM at 12th and score minimum of 75% marks to become eligible for admission. Of course you will need to clear JEE Mains and JEE Advanced to get actual admission.

It's indeed quite good to hear that you are interested in aerospace engineering in IIT Mumbai. You need to take PCM subjects in your 12th exam and score minimum of 75% marks to be eligible. Then you need to clear JEE Mains and then JEE Advanced to get admission in this premier institute for studies in this branch.

Regarding marks, scoring slightly above 50% of the max marks will surely land you with a rank close to 2k, which is sufficient for getting Aerospace at IIT-K, IIT-KGP, IIT-M but maybe not IIT-B.
Get around 1015 marks more, and you will nail IIT-B aerospace.

The fees for the full course is about Rs. 8 lacs approx. But the institute offers different scholarships to deserving students. I am attaching a link that will give you all the required information:

IIT Mumbai is an old hand in this branch and keeps itself updated on a regular basis. It's at the top of ranking for this branch. On the other hand, IIST is a new entrant but is supported by ISRO. This college too has good faculty. However, I would prefer IIT to IIST.

A rank of about 2000 in JEE Advanced would fetch you a seat. But this year, being a girl student, additional seats have been authorised and hence for girl students, the cutoff could be further lowered.
Best wishes.
