To apply for the IGDTUW, a candidate needs to have all these things ready: class 10 and 12 mark sheet and certificate, bachelor's degree if one has it, passport-sized photograph, Aadhar card, and caste certificate in case it is needed.

IGDTUW provides numerous scholarships to students at different stages. For instance, PhD students can apply for the IGDTUW JRF/SRF (TRF) Scholarship. For non-GATE MTech/MPlan students with a CGPA of 8 and above, and 75% attendance, financial assistance is available. Also eligible are the full-time PhD students who do not hold any scholarship. Other scholarships include the Upma Memorial Award which takes the class rank of BTech MAE 4th-year student, the top BTech Dr. Babuajee Jha Scholarship.
