I come from the same combination of background, it's going to be fantastic. Industry prefers this combo of mechanical engineering + industrial design (especially when it's about making / manufacturing a tangible product). So, don't worry, just go ahead.

They are not three different streams. Automobile and product design are the sub-streams of industrial design. There are many sub-streams of ID like product design, textile design, ceramic and glass design, furniture and interior design, transportation and automobile design.
