The job of an industrial designer includes planning new ideas, creating designs and then bringing them into a product. As technology is advancing, customers are also getting smarter. I am not sure what Industrial Designer means. I assume you mean product design. Well, surely a study of Design in any form would help, if not specifically product design. Actual product design is a specialization in design so a basic design study would be useful, hence BFA can be good. Animation would help on the application and visualization side.
