Indian IT industry is in slow decline phase because of outcry against outsourcing in Western countries and increasing restrictions on working visas which has led to decrease in profits. Opportunities for IT professionals is declining rapidly. Unless you do BTech IT or BTech CS from top engineering college with good placement records, you may face challenges in getting good job in IT industry.

According to me, electrical in Thapar has more value than IT from SIT because Thapar is a well-recognized institute with great placements, faculty, infrastructure, library, etc.

Generally, IT section is sub-division of CSE. In CSE, theory and its application both are its considerations but in IT only the application part is there. CSE gives you an opportunity to learn various computer related topics and on the other hand IT focuses on to discover new innovative uses of those fundamental concepts.
