Bihar Institute of Technology was the previous name of BIT Sindri. It is a well-known technical college in Jharkhand. It was started back in 1949. Engineering-related UG and PG programmes, including BTech and M.Tech, are offered by BIT. Additionally, a Ph.D. is an option. Mechanical and Electrical Engineering is the best branch at BIT Sindri because BIT is well-known for its main engineering streams. Numerous applicants from these departments succeed in the competitive Indian engineering service test that UPSC administers. In 2001, Cambridge Institute of Technology was founded. The Institute is recognized by the Government of Jharkhand, Ranchi University, and the (AICTE) New Delhi. picturesque natural setting that is ideal for an academic setting. Since its founding, the Institute has rapidly expanded and prospered, and is today one of the premier engineering institutes of the country.

The highest salary was Rs 50 Lacs per year, provided by the IT sector's DE Shaw Group. Over 900 proposals were submitted by 51 eminent companies from a range of industries during the BIT SINDRI placement process in 2023. In the history of BIT Sindri, the number of placement offers given to students this year was above 900. Compared to the previous year, there were 83 more job offers, which is a significant increase over the average growth in placements. The university performed admirably during the pandemic, which makes this year's high rankings even more commendable. The greatest offers came from companies like Capgemini, TATA Steels Ltd., and JSW Steel during the placement drive for 2022–2023. Additionally this year, MITACS research grants were awarded to five of our students.
