The Interior Design programme is offered both for the BDes and MDes courses. At the BDes level, the Interior Design programme is offered under the faculty of Industrial Design, with a specialisation in Furniture and Interior Design. There are currently 13 seats for the programme. At the master's level, MDes in Furniture & Interior Design course is offered at the NID Ahmedabad campus. The intake capacity for the MDes programme is currently 19 seats. Admission to the Interior Design programme (both Bachelor's and master's) at the NIDs will be through the NID DAT exam.

At the postgraduate level, Annamalai University Chennai offers two to five-year MSc courses to the students. The fee for MSc ranges between INR 14,190 and INR 1.9 lakh. The eligibility criteria for admission to the MSc course is Class 12 with a minimum of 40 percentage aggregate and a bachelors degree with a minimum of 50 percentage aggregate. There are limited seats available for the MSc Interior Design course at Annamalai University. So candidates are recommended to apply early.

There are several colleges in India that offer admission to B. Des in Interior Designing without any entrance exam. However, the admission process varies from college to college. Some colleges may admit students based on their performance in the qualifying examination (such as 10+2 or equivalent), while others may conduct a Personal Interview or portfolio review to evaluate the candidate's skills and aptitude for the programme.
