Hello, I would suggest you to prepare for JAM Exam by yourself. This will save lots of you time and money which you will be spending in the coaching classes. JAM exam is tough. But if you prepare well then, you can easily crack the exam. IIT JAM 2019 Exam will be conducted in the month of February 2019. Still you have enough time left for the preparation. Both are very different from each other.
If you want to do PG, then you can go for IIT JAM. After that, you can get a good placement, if you work hard.
Otherwise, SSC is a good option, SSC is a very reputed government exam.
Choose what you have interest in.

Hello,There are separate books available for different topics in JAM Mathematics. So, buying these books separately for each topic is not a good idea. I would suggest you to take help from study materials which covers the syllabus for all the topics in a single book. So, you don't have to carry 10-15 books with you. For JAM Exam preparation you should solve previous year question papers and take online mock tests. This will give you an idea about the pattern and difficulty level of the questions. Make notes of all the important stuff. This will help you in your last minute preparation. Best of Luck.
