If you are in SC category and qualified than apply for it. Sometimes seats remain vacant in SC category so apply in all IITs. Once you get selected you have a verities of choice to choose among them. All the best

Hi Priyadarshan,
The cut-offs vary year after year, hence, I would request you to attempt the paper to the best of your capabilities. The mantra to success is dedication, commitment and determination. Hey Abbas,
In IIT mains you have to score min. of 27.78% if you're an open category student,
19.4% if you're obc category,
14.4% if you're sc category,
13.3% if you're st category.
The below information may also help you:
Minimum Marks in Qualifying Examination (QE) for JEE (Advanced) 2016:Admission to the 16 IITs and ISM Dhanbad will be based only on category wise All India Rank (AIR) in JEE (Advanced) - 2015, under the condition that such aspirants satisfyAT LEAST ONE OF THE TWO CRITERIAgiven below:

Hi Niranjan,
Based on your JEE main score, your expected rank will be above 75000.
The above mentioned ranks are displayed only the basis of a candidate's score in JEE Main 2016. There can be variation in ranks when the same is calculated on the basis of normalization of scores, taking in account Class XII Board results along with reservation (SC / ST / OBC etc.) and JEE exam scores.
