IIT Kanpur has released the extended merit list for qualified candidates on June 14th. The authorities released the qualifying JEE Advanced 2018 cutoff along with the result on June 10th. Candidates securing a rank below the qualifying cutoff of JEE Advanced 2018 will not be considered eligible for admissions. In other words, candidates have to secure a rank above JEE Advanced 2018 cutoff to secure a seat. Candidates must note that the qualifying cutoff is not the same as the admission cutoff used at the time of JoSAA counselling.

Yes, you will have to crack JEE advance with good marks to get admission in IITs. If you score around 50% in advance then there is a high probability that you will get an old IIT with a branch of your choice. For getting into NIT, IIIT's and other good colleges you must crack JEE Mains.
