IIT had introduced there preparatory course 3-4 years ago for sc/st and pd candidates
under this those candidates r selected who just missed to get least marks under there category qualification.
this is a one year course,will be commence by IIT itself
after one year completion u will b tagged either pass or fail
if u pass this course, congratulation u r directly selected to take admission in iits of Your preferred branch.
simply say
preparatory course is IIT JEE coaching by IIT itself.

for IIT colleges u have to clear the cutt off. but clearing cutt off doesn't gurantee Your admission. Your rank should be under 8000 for IIT colleges. and if u want good one with good branches. then u have to work hard and Your rank sjould be in 2000-3000.

For JEE Advance, JEE Mains is the eligibility criteria along with at least 75% aggregate marks for general and OBC-NCL or 70% aggregate marks for SC, ST and PwD candidates in 12th. Check the link below for more details
