For the SC (Scheduled Caste) category, a lower rank is generally required compared to the General category for admission to the IITs. However, the exact rank required can vary depending on factors such as the number of available seats, the difficulty of the exam, and the performance of other candidates. With a total of 2291 seats reserved for SC category students across various IITs, there are certainly opportunities for you to secure a seat in one of the IITs with your category rank.

Closing rank is different even for the courses/engineering branches offered within an IIT. But overall, students must have a JEE Advanced rank within the top 30,000 to have a seat in any of the IITs across the country. The closing ranks can range from a few hundred to several thousand, depending on factors like the number of available seats, the performance of candidates, and the category (General, OBC, SC, ST, etc. ) of the candidates.

In terms of syllabus, although both JEE Mains and Advanced have class 11 and 12 topics of Physics Chemistry and Mathematics, there are some topics which are a part of Mains syllabus but not in Advanced. Also, the difficulty level of JEE Advanced is way ahead of JEE Mains. Students preparing for the JEE Advanced exam can download the syllabus from the Shiksha pag
