Hi
It would be little difficult to manage both as JEE preparation require regular studies and hard work. If you are very sure of doing something from IITs only, then u may take a gap year and prepare rigorously for it. Otherwise continue with ur b.tech. Alternatively, if you can manage both, u may try again.

Ankit it would be preferable to go for regular schooling if your skill of learning furndamentals is not very good. However, if you are good academically then you may begin preparing for JEE right away.

your 12th percentage will not matter from next year in JEE ranking . and it doesn't matter if you have 88 in board all it matter is weather you are ready to be alone for a year or you are ready to dedicate a full year to study and remember it is very difficult I am also a dropper and also I found it very hard to study after December because I was studying the same thing
so all last it is all up to you .

In Govt set up the promotions are based on age & experience. There this one year would become important. Besides, he/she is able to go along with his/er classmates and the batch does not change.
