You need to apply separately to IISC. So IISC application opens in Feb-march. And JEST also happens in the same time. You fill the application of IISC and put that your JEST result is pending. Then in April when your JEST result comes. You need to edit your application and put your JEST rank. If your JEST rank is good. They will call you for an interview. After JEST not just in IISC. Everywhere like IISERS etc. You need to apply at each Institute separately.

To take admission through JEST examination, first of all a candidate needs to clear the exam with good rank and score. Then one need to apply for result sharing institutes. After that candidates (selected on the basis of rank) will get call from the institution. Then, there will be interview session. After that one gets Admission.

Through the Jam exam, you can apply for both M.Sc and integrated Ph.D., but through JEST exam you can apply only for Ph.D. or integrated Ph.D. Infact JEST is tough as compared to Jam.
