The cutoff for entry into Jalpaiguri Government Engineering College, depending on entrance exams, whether WBJEE or JEE Main, type of stream, and whether General, SC, ST, OBC, etc., it varies. Normally, it is much higher in cases of streams like Computer Science and Engineering or Electronics and Communication Engineering. The admission to under graduate level courses in B.E./B.Tech in the Jalpaiguri Government Engineering College is done in two modes, that is one the basis of WBJEE-West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination and JEE Mains. The eligibility conditions for candidates are that one must pass Class 12 with a minimum of 45 percent aggregate marks (for reserved candidates 40%) in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics. However, at postgraduate or M.Tech level candidates must hold a relevant qualification in B.E./B. Tech and be qualified in the GATE exam. The final selection is based on entrance exam scores followed by counseling.

JGEC - Jalpaiguri Government Engineering College offers only BTech and MTech courses. The total tuition fee for BTech ranges between INR 37.5 K- 1.1 Lakhs depending on the specialisation in which the candidate is interested. The total tuition fee for MTech is around INR 91.8 K. To be eligible for the course, the candidate needs to have a minimum of 50% marks in Class 12 in a relevant stream. The WBJEE result date for Jalpaiguri Government Engineering College has always been in June-July. The following cutoff ranks of WBJEE cut off rank for JGEC are as follows: General category – 1747/2019 to 5839/2019. It has been enlisted that admission eligibility for Matriculation and Science Section for boys in 10+2 carries 40% marks. His or her results are often released within one month but not exceptionally more than 45 days from the day of the exam.
