Profession of mass communication and journalism requires a big bucket of knowledge. So before buying books your first focus should be collecting as much as knowledge you can, that is possible if you daily read newspapers ad read simple NCERT books. Apart from this here I am suggesting some important books so that you can prepare yourself for journalism and mass communication entrance exams. First of all refer two publications - Arihant and Keval J. Kumar. These both are considered good for preparation. You will get a lot of content in their books. Mass communication in India by Keval J. Hello Rohan
If you are applying for Masters programme, then an entrance exam is carried out, and if you are applying for Bachelors programme, then it depends upon your marks in class 12th. If you are looking for journalism and Mass Communication, then better to opt for degree programme course that includes combo of both these fields. Apart from this, you have option to go with either journalism degree or with mass communication one. And, you may also apply for some certificate or Diploma courses like that of photography, editing, writing etc. But, best is to go with journalism + Mass communication. Hello Mohan Gupta
You can apply for journalism after completing B.Com. But, it is better to go for Masters in journalism, it will be of 2 years. The criteria varies according to the college you are taking part in. Like if you are going for private colleges then it requires approximately 50% - 60% or maybe less to 45%. Thank you.

Hello Rashmi,
St. Xavier's is one of the prestigious and faithful brands. It is a huge value place and study pattern is awesome there. So, it is obviously a nice choice. St. Xavier's conducts an entrance exam to get the students from all the corners. You just need to clear that. Apart, from this I'll advice you to make a proper check of its study pattern, facilities, fee structure etc. Apart from Ranchi, you can also consider one in Mumbai or Kolkata.
