Karnataka Univesity admission is entrance-based. Candidates have to take the department entrance exam and secure a good score to get admission. For MBA and MCA, admission is through Karnataka PGCET followed by counselling. Candidates with a low score may get admission under the management quota. However, this information is as per an unofficial source and hence, is indicative.

The passing marks for Karnataka University varies from one course to another. It also varies every year as the cutoff depends upon factors like number of candidates, the highest marks in the exam, seat intake, etc. In 2021, Karnataka PGCET cutoff for MBA admission was 7905, which was competitive than 2020 (21232). However, for MCA, Karnatak University PGCET cutoff (overall) dropped from 2784 in 2021 to 4128 in 2022.

Karnataka University course admission process vary depending upon the programme level. Admission to the PG level courses is entrance-based. Karnataka University Dharwad: 60 seats at Manorama College of Business Administration, 40 seats at MPE Society's Shri Dharmastala Manjunatheshwara College of Arts, Science, Commerce, and Business Administration, 100 seats at Oxford College of Business Administration, and 60 seats at Patima B.B.A College.Central University of Karnataka: 15 seats for each M.Sc program, out of which 5 seats are on a self-financed basis.Government First Grade College: 40 seats.

The MBA programme at Karnataka University accepts scores from a variety of entrance exams. A bachelor's degree that is at least three years old and has 50% of its total points from all subjects—including language courses—is required to be eligible. The following entrance exams are part of the Karnataka University MBA programme selection process: KMAT, CAT, CMAT, XAT, MAT, ATMA, GMAT, and PGCET.
