Design, encapsulates everything. Design has become platform independent, whether traditional platforms or digital platforms. You should be a good designer first. Parameters for different platforms are different and you need to be well versed with them. Today, I could use/convert/transform my designs for web or magazine or posters or animations. Hope this answers your question.

Just answered this question, will share again;
To be a good designer, a formal education does help, but, to be a good designer you need to be a artistic/visualiser, someone who sees this world from a very different lens, rather than zeros and ones. Also, a very important factor to be a good designer is/are not software/s but how well can you think/visualise from everybody else, how well do you understand your audience and their requirement and design accordingly
On the contrary, if you design for yourself, then its imperative that you bring out your thoughts in such a manner that they connect with the audience instantly. Bottom

It totally depends on the curriculum and your due diligence, as to how seriously you stick to your study schedules. Per me, Design, be studied regular, as meeting faculty and fellow students from diverse backgrounds, gives varied insights into cultures, lifestyles, which in turn helps a designer in his/her creations.

But if you are looking for degree courses then I would suggest; College of Arts, and for post graduation, you can choose, NID.

1. Be very calm, patient, relaxed
2. Be open to criticism/feedback
3. Be a good listener, to understand the audience's requirement and covert those into tangible/measurable output
4. Be open to ideas, whosoever is giving them
5. Be aware of the latest trends, not only in ones domain but related domains as well
6. Be a team player
7. Be a good communicator, verbally, in writing and most important via ones designs.
