In contrast to full-time, on-campus programs, certain universities do offer M.Phil. degrees via correspondence or remote study, albeit these are comparatively scarce. Certain private universities and organizations such as IGNOU (Indira Gandhi National Open University) offer M.Phil. degrees in particular subjects via online or remote learning formats. However, the accreditation and rules of the university determine whether or not such programs are available and legitimate. To learn about the programs, requirements, and policies of the particular university, conduct research on it. Note that because M.Phil. programs require practical research and supervision, some fields—particularly those that require a lot of study—may not be able to adequately support them through correspondence.
