LUT University is a public Science university in Finland. The international community at the university comprises over 9,000 members. There are two campuses of the university; Lappeenranta and Lahti. Furthermore, the university is also among the world’s Top 200 universities for global impact (THE 2023 Impact Rankings). Also, as per 2022 THE rankings, LUT University is one of the 20 best small universities across the globe.

According to unofficial sources, Lappeenranta University of Technology Finland acceptance rate is around 15%. This signifies that the university is very selective while granting admissions. So, students with an exceptional academic record have a higher chance of getting admission. To study the bachelor’s programs of the university, the applicants must have completed upper secondary class education. Whereas, for admission to graduate courses, the applicants are required to have a relevant bachelor’s degree.

At the bachelor’s level, students can choose from over 8 Business or Technology programs. LUT Career Spark Subsidy and master’s thesis subsidy is the university’s subsidy form for employers, who offer an internship or master’s thesis place to international students. The aim of this is to support international students’ employment and integration into Finnish working life. LUT Career Spark covers part of the wage costs. LUT pays a subsidy of EUR 1,200 – EUR 2,200 to employers.

Yes, students can include an internship to their electives studies at bachelor’s and master’s level. The most common way to get an internship is to accredit a summer job period. The duration of an internship is 2-4 months, which takes place between May and August. The content of internship at the bachelor’s level is not defined, but, internships in own field is required. For the master’s degree, both content and the level of internship should be directly connected to the respective study field.

In Lahti and Lappeenranta, the accommodation expenses for a student apartment will be roughly EUR 700 per month. The Early Bird Discount at LUT University is offered to students for the first academic year. The Early Bird Discount is of EUR 6,000 for the first academic year is offered. The tuition fee of EUR 7,500 is offered within 21 days from the date of having been emailed the official email of being admitted. An Early Bird Discount is applicable for bachelor’s degrees too (Regular admission). These bachelor’s programs are Computational Engineering, Industrial Engineering and Management, Sustainable International Business, and Technology and Engineering Science

At the master’s level, only one academic scholarship is available for LUT University students. This scholarship is the Finland Scholarship. It is only available for regular admission and when a tuition fee is required. No separate scholarship application has to be filled out to avail this scholarship.
