The clear answer is no. Top IITs and NITs in India do not have the option for lateral entry for students because of they believe in providing you quality education right from the beginning of the curriculum and design their course syllabus accordingly. They follow a quite rigid admission policy in that sense. If you wish to get admission to IITs and NITs, you will have to appear for entrance exams like JEE Main and JEE Advanced and start the BTech course from the first year itself like other regular students who enroll for a duration of complete 4 years after completing Class 12.Best of luck for your future endeavors!

Yes, of course! If you have a 3-year Diploma in a relevant engineering field, you can definitely apply for BTech course through lateral entry programme provided by many colleges and universities in India where you can directly enter into the second year of the course. You need to have a minimum of 50-60% marks in your Diploma degree to be eligible for admission, which may vary depending on the institute you wish to apply for.Rest, you may also check the official website of your preferred university to confirm their criteria and also check for additional lateral entry admission entrance exams that are conducted by the institute. Thanks.
