Hello Rajyavardhan, it's very nice to hear from you that after completion of your Diploma in engineering you are interested in pursuing graduation in engineering. Normally speaking the state governments have put restrictions of domicile on admission via lateral process directly into second year of engineering into engineering colleges with their states. Hence you may be eligible for admission only within your state or then into any deemed to be university. 1. College of Engineering, Pune

Distance B.Tech/ B.E. Is not valid as per UGC guidelines, So never be pursue. The AMIE and B.Tech lateral are the best available options. You have dropped your B.Tech in 4th semester so please asked to your college for continuation procedure. Most probably your college may permit you for the completion of remaining B.Tech semesters.

Yes, you will get lateral entry in college for degree. Year gap is not an issue but you can only apply GATE exam after completion or in final year of your engineering degree.

Hello Ram Chauhan, if I may say so you are a bit confused perhaps. We normally use the word lateral admission when a student who has completed his Diploma in engineering is seeking admission directly into second year of four year degree course of engineering. But you are already doing your engineering from college and interested in changing you are college. Right? Frankly speaking it's very tough to do this.
