Hello Ashutosh Kumar,
The procedure is different in different states of India. Some states conduct an entrance exam for lateral admission while some states give admission based on the marks of diploma courses. West bengal government conducts an entrance exam for admission on lateral basis. I am attaching a link that will tell you all about this examination and different aspects of it for admissions. In Maharashtra you will have to fill in the form online available on the website of directorate of technical education of Maharashtra.

Yes, absolutely. LEET (Lateral entry entrance test) is an entrance test to take lateral entry in B.Tech/B.E programme. After completing your 3 years Diploma in engineering, you can appear for LEET exam to get admission directly in the 2nd year of engineering degree.

Hello Sanskriti,
Yes, your information is absolutely right. IPU has decided to utilize ranking of students in JEE Mains exam to give admission to students in their engineering courses. This had helped students to avoid preparing and appearing for one more entrance exam and at the same time it has helped the university in avoiding all the hassles that are associated with conducting an entrance exam. In fact I am of the opinion that parents and students must exert pressure on the Govt. of India for having only one pan India entrance exam for engineering on the lines of NEET for medical courses.Best wishes to you.

Sorry Jaydev, you're not eligible to get admission in CSE at St Andrews college because you've completed your Diploma in civil engineering, so you must choose B.Tech CivIl in B.Tech.
There is no chance of getting CSE.
Students should take the branch in which they have completed Diploma, it's the rule.

Whatever the college you choose, firstly it depends on the rank you get in the entrance exam of that particular college. Based on the rank they decide the fee structure of the selected branch.

Hello,Lateral admissions after completion of Diploma are coordinated by the Directorate of technical education of the concerned state government. Invariably students want to change the branch as they pursue the dream of graduation in engineering. But there are some difficulties of the administration in allowing a free for all. As a result of this almost all the state governments have made a table available on the website which will give the student an Idea as to what different branches of Engineering can be selected based on the Diploma course that the student is doing. I would like to advise you to look at this website of your state a
