For B.Tech there is no lateral entry. You have to qualify AMUEEE and appear for the course for entire duration.

For Diploma students the percentage of marks obtained from 1st semester to 6th semester calculated, for admission. It is the way they calculate the marks for admission of engineering lateral entry. Some universities will conduct the entrance test also for the admission. For the cutoff marks you have to calculate the marks scored in all the semesters. One of the many technical education options in India is B.Tech Lateral Entry (LE). Students aspiring to become engineers can apply for B.Tech LE. Students who have completed their engineering diploma programme can apply for admission in B.Tech LE. There are various engineering specialisations for which lateral entry is considered like fire safety engineering colleges, marine engineering colleges, mining engineering colleges, petroleum engineering colleges, software engineering colleges etc.

Hello, Your query is absolutely valid. But I am afraid it does not have straight forward response. This is so since every state has its own rules and regulations. But you will find a table of qualifying Diploma branches for getting lateral admission in mechanical engineering, on the website of DTE of Tech Education of your state. Just download this brochure and go through in detail to find answer to your query.
