Hello Suyash Nikam, in the scheme of lateral entry into engineering colleges for student who have completed their Diploma in engineering are granted admission in the second year of 4 year degree course. Some polytechnics are having semester pattern while some or having early pattern and as a result to have commonality in the process of lateral admission the marks that are mentioned in your Diploma Certificate of passing the Diploma are taken into account for deciding the merit and giving admission under lateral admission scheme.
