In the first sight, I suggest you not to opt any private law colleges. Going to a National Law University helps you a lot and moreover, do not rely on the rankings provided by India today or NIRF. The private law colleges create a hype just by bribing them and also, no private university or college can't compete with the standards of National Law Universities (Exceptions to Symbiosis Pune and CHRIST colleges of law)

For entrance in law colleges, you can give the following examinations for different colleges:
CLAT- It is basically for top 16 national law universities. If you got a decent rank, you would be selected. AILET- It is for National Law University Delhi. You have to get a rank under 100 to get selected.ISAT- It is for different private universities all over India.ULSAT- It is for UPES, Dehradun specifically.SET- It is Symboisis Entrance Test. It's for symbi colleges all over India.
MHCET- It is for private and government law colleges among Maharashtra.

Yes, for pursuing LLM for national law universities, it is mandate to give CLAT. On the basis of result, you would be allotted the college.
