The registration for CLAT opens in January and continues till march. Results are out in May. After CLAT results, you can apply to the law colleges and you get admission based on your CLAT score cut-off + class 12 scores (45%) + your age should not be more than 20 years. Privates colleges are not strongest on the cut-offs. So, it is advisable to appear for all the entrance exams so that you get a chance in any of the colleges.

Integrated law course like BA LLB / BBA LLB is better as it saves a year. You can prepare for CLAT and appear for the entrance in the same year. Dropping a year for CLAT might not be a good idea unless you are sure if you can work hard for the preparation. So, work hard and try to crack it down the same year. Besides, CLAT is for all the entrances of law colleges like CET, SET, etc. Even if you fail to get into a top NLU there are many other good government and private law colleges.
