The Bar Council of India and UGC have not approved the distance learning mode for education in PG LLM program. So no University in India is permitted to offer LLM through distance education mode.

Yes, the LLM entrance test at IIT Kharagpur features multiple-choice questions based on the Bar Council-approved LLB syllabus. Notably, there is no negative marking for incorrect answers. Candidates must secure a minimum of 35% aggregate in each part of the Computer-Based Test (CBT) to qualify for the Personal Interview (PI) round. The final merit list is then determined by a 70% weightage for the CBT and a 30% weightage for the PI.

For candidates looking to dive into the LLM programme at IIT Kharagpur, having a robust LLB/BL background is a must, and it should be crowned with a first-class degree from a recognised university. If you've opted for the three-year LLB/BL journey, ensure you also showcase a first-class bachelor's degree in Humanities/Science/Commerce or a related field, scoring a minimum of 60% or a respectable CGPA of 6.5 on that 10-point scale.
