M.A Eligibility

The candidate have cleared (not before 2019) or appeared for BA (Hons) examination in 2023 from any recognised University. Appeared for BA  (Hons) exam and should have their final results at the time of counselling and produce their original mark sheets/grade cards of all semester/annual examinations passed at the Bachelor’s level. Such candidates must fulfil the academic eligibility norms for their applied courses tabled below for admission.The candidate should appeared for their final BA (Hons) examination, but their final results have not been declared at the time of counselling, such candidates shall be given provisional admission on the basis of production of their previous mark sheets/grade cards of all previous semester/annual examinations at their Bachelor’s level. However, candidates are supposed to submit their final mark sheet till the mentioned date to ensure that they fulfil their minimum eligibility criteria for admission. Must secure the minimum required percentage of marks/CGPA in honours/major subject as per the following table in their BA (Hons) examination for final and confirmed admission.

Applicants seeking admission to the top MA in Journalism and Mass Communication programs in Kolkata typically need to meet the following eligibility criteria:Completion of an undergraduate degree from a recognised university or institution with a minimum aggregate score of 50% or above. While a bachelor's degree in any discipline is generally accepted, some institutions may give preference to candidates with a background in Media, Journalism, Communication, or a related field.Some colleges may mandate candidates to take entrance exams as part of the admission process. These exams assess various aspects such as aptitude, general knowledge, language proficiency, writing skills, and analytical abilities. Common entrance exams for MA in Mass Communication and Media may include the Common Entrance Test (CET), AUAT, TNJEE, and others.

Affiliated with the University of Delhi, admission to MA at Miranda House is completely entrance based subject to CUET-PG. Candidates who qualify the entrance examination can then register on DU’s Common Seat Allocation System (CSAS) portal for seat allocation. Done in multiple rounds, the seat allocation for MA is based on multiple factors such as - the combination of college and selected course, the position of the candidate in the merit list, category (SC/ ST/ OBC/ EWS/ UR) of the candidate and availability of seats. Additionally, students must meet with the minimum eligibility criteria set by the affiliating university, i.e. DU which is passing a relevant undergraduate degree.
