Many universities also conduct entrance exam, so you can see syllabus on official website of them.

The minimum eligibility criterion required for the candidates is to possess a Bachelor's degree in English or relevant discipline from a recognized university with a minimum aggregate score of 60%. Admission to MA English is done on the basis of entrance tests. However, some MA English colleges also provide direct admission based on merit. Admission to the course is based on the merit obtained by the candidate at the level of graduation. A few colleges conduct their own entrance examinations followed by rounds of group discussion and personal interview.
