To be eligible for admission to the Master of Design (M.Des) programme at the National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) in Mumbai, you must have passed an undergraduate degree from a law-recognized institution in India, or have an undergraduate Diploma of at least three years from NIFT or NID. You must also be at most 23 years old as of October 1, 2023, but the upper age limit may be extended by five years for candidates of SC, ST, or differently abled. You must also have completed 10+2 or any equivalent examination from a recognised board.

The eligibility criteria of the M.Des course is that the candidates must have a qualifying degree in Design/Architecture/ Interior design/ Fine arts or in any stream with at least 50% marks from a recognised university. Candidates should have qualified for the entrance examination conducted for design courses. There is no upper age limit for candidates who are applying for the M.Des course.

The overall criteria for MDes in NID Ahmedabad is four year duration Bachelor degree in any specialisations from any recognised university or institution. NID Ahmedabad offers MDes programme at the postgraduate level that lasts for two and a half years. Admission 2024 is based on NID entrance exams. MDes is offered in 19 disciplines across all 3 campuses in the following departments: Faculty of Communication Design, Faculty of Industrial Design, Faculty of Interdisciplinary Design, Faculty of IT Integrated Design, and Faculty of Textile, Apparel, Lifestyle and Accessory Design.

The National Institute of Design (NID) in Bangalore requires a Bachelor's degree or its equivalent in any area, or a Diploma in design under the 10+2+4 system, as eligibility requirements for its Master of Design (M.Des) program. The eligibility criteria for the MDes course at DJ Academy of Design is that the candidate should have passed the undergraduate programme and have cleared the DJAD Entrance Exam for Design (DEED). Further, the admission process is followed by the Personal Interview conducted by DJAD, Coimbatore.
