An English language exam either IELTS or TOEFL, German language exams upto the required level is sufficient for English taught courses. You can also take up GRE but it's not compulsory. For German taught courses, you need to take TestDaf exam.

Hi, well you should try the top automobile engineering schools, but have to check the admission requirements for each one of them and apply accordingly. Some are more competitive than the others. The country also matters, it is basically your choice. Finally, where you want to study. Look how expensive each country is, plus the stay back options. Some top schools are Chalmers University of Technology, University of Texas at Austin, Cornell University, MIT, national University of Singapore etc. Rechec k the IELTS requirements for each university, you may have to retake since 5.5 is considered low.

Hi Jalaj, practice makes it perfect, you must revise and practice regularly. Firstly, it is good to take a mock test before starting the preparation. You will know where you stand in the beginning. Then onwards make your routine, identify your areas of weakness and areas where you are good at. Mock tests must be taken once or twice a week and you should track your improvement. Many online materials are found on ETS website. Keep checking and practicing.

Hi Sion Raymonds,
Backlogs are not good if you are applying to German universities. You can try applying but it will be a challenge. Admissions will depend on your overall admission profile, SOP, LORs, project works, research, publication, etc. Check with DAAD India, attend some workshops and see if you can be eligible for a few of the universities or keep other country options open.

Hi Saurav, generally it's the undergraduate score and projects which is more important. As far as tests are concerned they will only require test scores like IELTS and/or TestDaf. GATE scores are also accepted but it's not mandatory. Preferences and requirements differ from university to university and also, it will also depend on your profile.

Hi, not taking IELTS will not only hamper your admission but also your visa. Later getting a job will also be difficult. So take the IELTS as it is not too difficult to crack.

Hi Arshad Damani,
Extremely low possibility. To get admitted with 60% in Germany, you must have an excellent research-oriented profile, publications, patent works, high-end internship and project work, outstanding recommendation letters, foreign languages, etc.

Hello Vivek,
Academic Profile: You should have above 75% in your undergraduate degree (i.e) CGPA 7.5/10, for Mechanical courses as heavy competition is out there.
Language Proficiency: Most of the German universities accept IELTS score, you can even take GRE and TOFEL.
Good luck.
Thank you.
