One must have completed graduation with B.Sc in any of the following- zoology, botany, chemistry, biology, genetics, biochemistry, biotechnology and microbiology. As you have done B.Sc in genetics, you need not to worry, you are already eligible for that. However, I am not sure about the percentage of graduation it requires. I think that probably it would be 55%.

Yes you can take admission as an open mode of study. Students who are not interested in pursuing a regular Master of Science M.Sc. Degree, they can opt to pursue the course as a correspondence or distance programme. There are various colleges which offer distance/correspondence M.Sc. Degree in India.
