Having said that I personally think it is better to remain committed to one field. Later, when you will be looking for jobs, that might be concerned as recruiters like people who specialize. But then again, do whatever you feel okay in doing and whatever happens, do not regret your decision ever. Good Luck.

It's really difficult to tell you the cut off without knowing the name of the college. I would like you to mention the name of the college. Then only, I can give you an exact idea about cut off.

Both M.Sc in microbiology and M.Sc in food technology have different & better career prospects. If your interest resides in microbiology, then you can go for the same.
