The University has released the overall placement data for PG (2-year) courses. As per the NIRF report 2023, 106 PG (2-year) students were placed in 2022 drive, out of 788 graduates. The median package offered was INR 5 LPA. From 2020 to 2022, an improving trend was observed in the PG (2-year) median package.  In order to apply for an MSc course, aspirants shall have a valid BSc degree in a relevant discipline from a recognised university. The candidate should have passed the qualifying examination with at least 55% aggregate or CGPA of 6 (50% aggregate or 5.5 CGPA for SC/ST). The relevant documents also have to be presented for verification.

IIT BBSR offers MSc + PhD programmes of five-year duration. These integrated courses are available in five specialisations, including Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics, Atmosphere and Ocean Sciences, and Geology. Admission to all these courses is through IIT JAM. Candidates who pass the course successfully are offered MSc and PhD degrees.

Admission to MSc courses is through IIT JAM. Candidates who meet the eligibility requirements can apply by visit JAM website. Candidates shall further take the entrance exam and secure a good scores. Based on the cutoff marks, candidates are called for CCMN counselling following which seat allotment is carried out.
