It may differ from college to college. Every college and university have their own set of guidelines that they follow for admission to various M.Tech courses. The time involved in the admission process may take a few months. After you appear for your entrance exams, the general admission process includes the declaration of exam results, applying for the counselling process online, seat allotment on the basis of your exam rank, and admission confirmation from your end by visiting the college and paying the necessary M.Tech course fee and getting your documents verified.

Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) ask for a minimum of 60% marks in your bachelor's degree in a relevant engineering branch. You need to work hard for your final BTech/B.E exams and make sure you get at least 60% marks overall, to be eligible for admission to the IITs in India. The competition is very high there, given their status and All-India ranking in India, and hence, their minimum marks requirement is also of a certain standard as compared to other universities that may consider you for admission with 50 to 60% marks in graduation as well.
