The admission to M.Tech at IIT Madras is entirely based on GATE scores. Hence, aspirants must meet eligibility requirements and have valid score of GATE. However, MS candidates can apply without the entrance score. Aspirants who have completed a BTech degree from one of the IITs with a CGPA of 8.0 and above can apply without a GATE score for MS.

ASE Coimbatore offers M.Tech admissions to candidates who have not qualified GATE exam. Such candidates must apply for the preferred course. After applying, they are required to keep checking their registered email ID for the interview call letter. The institute generally sends the call letters within two weeks of time. If received the letter, candidates must report to the venue and appear for the interview. The admission of non-GATE candidates depends on their performance in the PI round.
