See, the best option is to first study mechanical engineering, and then do one year additional marine engineering. See, you will have vast scope of jobs. You can work on ships or you can work on cars. The choice will be completely your's.

Yes, it is really a good course. On having degree of marine engineering, you can apply for Indian navy. There is a scheme named TES (Technical Entry Scheme) through which you can fill the application form online on Indian navy site, and can go for an interview to get selected in navy after medical process being done. Also, you can get a job in other sectors which are being working for defense and merchant purposes.

Yes, you can join marine engineering branch, which is a sub branch of mechanical engineering. The best colleges are IMU, Mumbai and IMU, Kolkata. But, you will not be able to get these college, because it require a rank below 1000. But, if you are really interested in this field, you can give exam for the private shipping colleges. Where you have confirmed job, but you have to bear with fee structure.
