It depends on Institute where you study.If you study in top notch Institutes like IMS Goa, MERI, Tolani etc., you will get placed.In many other institutions, it's really hard.You'll also get placed if you study in Institutes like Anglo eastern maritime academy, Samundra institute of maritime studies etc. also as they are run by shipping companies who have their Ships and they place the students on their ships. The best shot is Anglo eastern maritime academy. Getting incide AEMA is like a rat race. The competition is so hard.On the other side, if you study in other Colleges, it's really hard to get placed as there are already plenty of marine engineering graduates and mechanical engineers who did their pre sea training looking for ships.
