Dude in my suggestion don't do Marine engineering because you will not get good placements which you are thinking of. You should search for Petroleum engineering.

Marine engineering is a good choice because in india there are lot of mines and even in future the find more mines , if mines increases obviously there will be more opportunities and more scope of getting a job.

As much as i know entry to MANET is done through IMU-CET, MANET is one of the very good college affilated by the Indian Maritime University,Chennai(A central university under Ministry of Shipping) . But it is itself private.
Well it has B.Tech Marine Engg and the cut off is very good.
The college is good. placements are a bit bad in current senario.

The demand for Marine Engineers in public and private shipping companies has risen sharply, with the increase in international global sea traffic. BE in Marine Engineering / Nautical Science is the basic qualifications to become a Marine Engineer.
