You can apply after class 12th from any stream. If your class 12th is in Arts, then It will help you for a longer run as Arts include many subjects which help you in many ways. If you have completed your gradation from any stream then you can apply for post graduate or post graduate Diploma in mass communication and journalism. To take admission you have to pass through entrance exam or on merit basis. Like I have completed my mass communication from NIMCJ, Ahmedabad they have MACJET Entrance Exam for admission.

I don't know about cut-off, but I'd suggest not to take B.Sc in mass communication in St. Xaviers, because I am currently a student of Media Science and a former Xaviers student suggested me not to go for it, because it is not good and less importance is being given in college about this course.

You can prepare for the entrance by Reading newspapers, watch news, and Practice reasoning, grammar, General knowledge. Either, buy a book which covers all the above syllabus, or you can prepare from All India Exams online http://www.allindiaexams.in/home

The answer totally depends on the channel and experience of the candidate. The new comers or those who are in their mid-career, usually starts with low incomes and the experienced anchors bags in huge amount of money. Be Graduate first. Degree in Journalism and Mass Communication is a great advantage for applying the News Anchor job, because you get basic trainings during the course. You should enhance your current affairs knowledge, news story research, crisis management and the most important. Your voice modulation, clear pronunciation, command over language.
