MIT is the number one place to be so admission in such institute requires a great deal of efforts. You need to follow the admission time line, get good SAT and SAT subject test score, have all round personality which should include social services, extra curricular activities, and good recommendation letter from teachers.

Apart from high academic grades, a good GRE score is required. Admissions are competitive and extracurriculars are also taken into consideration.
