At present, the IIT JAM organizing institute has clarified that candidate needs only to pass the Bachelor's degree program. Minimum CGPA criteria for eligibility are removed. This is as per the year 2022 notification. However, to take admission into IIT through the IIT JAM examination, one needs to crack the IIT JAM exam with a good rank. Mainly less than 700 rank for general category students.

Yes, you can give an exam but one must have studied the subject for 3 years in which he/she wants to give an exam. For greater details about eligibility for a particular subject, go to the IIT JAM official website. From there download the admission brochure, and you will get to know more details regarding eligibility.

Many IITs demand that a candidate should have a minimum 10+2+3 qualification for getting admission through the IIT JAM exam. But still one can contact the IIT JAM organizing institute. Go onto the official IIT JAM organizing institute website then you will find their contact number and e-mail IDs then contact them.

Here is the eligibility for IIT JAM chem exam
Bachelors degree (at least 10+2+3) with Chemistry as a major/honours subject and Mathematics and Physics as other subjects, or
Candidates having a Bachelors degree (at least 10+2+3) without (Major/Honours) must have the concerned degree with (a) Chemistry as a subject for three years/six semesters, (b) Minimum 2 (Two) courses in Mathematics (c) Minimum 2 (Two) courses in Physics
or
Chemistry as a subject for three years of 6 semesters. Many IIT have different criteria. Go through admission brochure of IIT JAM. They don't ask for Maths as 12th subject. But still have query then contact the IIT

Go on to the IIT JAM official Website, from there on the contact section you will find the contact number and e-mail IDs, then contact them and they your queries. They can better answer the queries of those who have completed or are studying abroad.

If a candidate satisfy the given below criteria then he/she is eligible for IIT JAM chem exam
Bachelors degree (at least 10+2+3) with Chemistry as a major/honours subject and Mathematics and Physics as other subjects, or
Candidates having a Bachelors degree (at least 10+2+3) without (Major/Honours) must have the concerned degree with (a) Chemistry as a subject for three years/six semesters, (b) Minimum 2 (Two) courses in Mathematics (c) Minimum 2 (Two) courses in Physics
While some demands only Chemistry as a subject for three-years or 6 semesters.

To get admission through the general -EWS quota in IIT, then also you should have a rank under 800. With the 1826 rank, one cannot get a seat at IIT through the general -EWS quota.

In IIT JAM examination, section-B comprises of multiple select Question (MSQ). In these type of questions more than one option can be correct. Candidate will get marks only for those questions of MSQ in which he/she has chosen all the correct options. Lets understand it by example. Suppose a ques has three correct options but you have selected only two correct options then you won't be awarded any marks for that question.
