MAT score calculation is based on marks obtained in the five section- Language Comprehension, Mathematical Skills, Data Analysis and Sufficiency and Intelligence and Critical Reasoning. The score of Indian & Global Environment section is not taken into consideration for MAT percentile calculation, so candidates need not worry about it. Know the MAT marking scheme below:
MAT composite score is presented in the range of 199-801. Each question carries one mark for correct attempt. There is negative marking of 0.25 marks for each incorrect attempt.
0 marks is awarded for unanswered questions. Scores of the four sections are reported on a scale of 0-100. The MAT Composite Score is reported on a scale of 199 to 801. MAT percentile is calculated based on the formula which takes into consideration performance of each candidate versus all candidates.

MAT scorecard is the main document which is the identity proof of a candidate qualifying the exam. Thus it is not only necessary to keep a copy of the scorecard but also necessary to have an error free scorecard. After downloading the MAT result cum scorecard the candidates must check it thoroughly for errors. Each candidate's MAT result cum scorecard will contain the following information:

In case there is any error in the MAT scorecard (specifically personal details of the candidate) then the test taker must reach out to the AIMA MAT admission cell to get it rectified as faulty scorecards may not be accepted by colleges.

After the declaration of MAT result, candidates can start applying to the colleges they have shortlisted for pursuing MBA/PGDM. AIMA will send candidate's scores to the participating B-Schools that they shall have selected in their MAT application form. The MBA colleges will then shortlist candidates for the admission process and call candidates for further rounds. If candidates want to apply at colleges other than those five, then they will have to fill the application form for those other colleges individually. The admission process includes, Group Discussion (GD) and Personal Interview (PI). Candidates can start preparing for the GD/PI round before or after the MAT result announcement. Yes, the MAT scorecards of all modes are released together on the same day. The process to download the MAT scorecards of all modes is also same. MAT exam is conducted phase wise in February, May, September and December. In each phase MAT PBT, MAT CBT and MAT IBT exam are conducted multiple times. Candidates can appear for MAT any number of times they want. Score of the latest MAT attempt will be considered for admission. So, candidates must download the scorecard of the last attempt they have taken. The candidates are supposed to download their scorecards of the attempt/s made by them, by using the login credentials. MAT score is valid for admission for the same academic year in which the candidate has taken the exam. For example, MAT 2024 score will be valid for admission for 2024-2026 MBA batch only. If a candidate wishes to drop a year after taking the MAT exam, then they will have to appear for the exam once again next year. They should however check the eligibility or selection criteria to have a clarity of MAT score of which session/phase is valid for admission in which academic year. For example, for 2025 academic session MAT September 2024 and MAT December 2024 scores will be valid for admission to some MBA colleges who have the admission cycle of January-February. Whereas, colleges who conduct admission in March-May accept MAT February exam scores for admission. To simplify, MAT test takers must not try to use their score for admission more than one year after appearing for it. They should appear for it again and use the latest score for admission.

In order to determine your percentile based on your MAT composite score of 612.5, you would also need to know how many applicants took the MAT exam overall and how many passed, among other details. By comparing your score to the scores of other applicants, the percentile is determined. Here's a general process to calculate percentile:
Total the number of candidates who took the MAT. Add up each candidate's points. Results should be sorted in decreasing order. In the list of scores, locate your position or rank. Calculate your percentile using the formula: (Number of candidates with a score lower than yours / Total number of candidates) x 100. For example, if there were 10,000 candidates, and after arranging the scores, you found yourself at the 9,000th position, your percentile would be (9,000 / 10,000) x 100 = 90%. Note that the specific calculation may vary depending on the available data and how scores are distributed.
