AIMA does not play any role in deciding MAT cut offs for admission to any institute. The cut offs are determined by MAT participating colleges individually. AIMA only calculates MAT percentile of every candidate basis their raw score. Factors such as total number of candidates appearing for the exam, the difficulty level of the exam and total number of seats collectively determine MAT cut off for a particular academic session. The cut offs rarely increase or decrease in an academic session. Composite Score of 400 and above is considered a good MAT score. Some of the MAT participating institutes take into consideration sectional cut offs along with overall cut off, while some institutes consider only the overall MAT score for admission. Only meeting the MAT cut off does not guarantee admission to the institute. Final admission is granted based on candidate's overall performance in the MAT exam, Group Discussion, Personal Interview and Academics. Candidates need to check the selection criteria of their preferred institute for the types of cut offs they accept for admission.

MAT score calculation is based on marks obtained in the five section- Language Comprehension, Mathematical Skills, Data Analysis and Sufficiency and Intelligence and Critical Reasoning. The score of Indian & Global Environment section is not taken into consideration for MAT percentile calculation, so candidates need not worry about it. Know the MAT marking scheme below:
MAT composite score is presented in the range of 199-801. Each question carries one mark for correct attempt. There is negative marking of 0.25 marks for each incorrect attempt.
0 marks is awarded for unanswered questions. Scores of the four sections are reported on a scale of 0-100. The MAT Composite Score is reported on a scale of 199 to 801. MAT percentile is calculated based on the formula which takes into consideration performance of each candidate versus all candidates.

MAT scorecard is the main document which is the identity proof of a candidate qualifying the exam. Thus it is not only necessary to keep a copy of the scorecard but also necessary to have an error free scorecard. After downloading the MAT result cum scorecard the candidates must check it thoroughly for errors. Each candidate's MAT result cum scorecard will contain the following information:

2. Candidate's roll number
3. Candidate's form number
4. Degree
5. Work experience
6. Candidate's gender
7. Candidate's category
8. Test date
9. Candidate's date of birth
10. MAT sectional scores
11. MAT overall score
12. MAT composite scores
13. MAT percentile
In case there is any error in the MAT scorecard (specifically personal details of the candidate) then the test taker must reach out to the AIMA MAT admission cell to get it rectified as faulty scorecards may not be accepted by colleges.

After the declaration of MAT result, candidates can start applying to the colleges they have shortlisted for pursuing MBA/PGDM. AIMA will send candidate's scores to the participating B-Schools that they shall have selected in their MAT application form. The MBA colleges will then shortlist candidates for the admission process and call candidates for further rounds. If candidates want to apply at colleges other than those five, then they will have to fill the application form for those other colleges individually. The admission process includes, Group Discussion (GD) and Personal Interview (PI). Candidates can start preparing for the GD/PI round before or after the MAT result announcement. They can join online platforms or coaching institutes for soft skills and personality development. Yes, the MAT scorecards of all modes are released together on the same day. The process to download the MAT scorecards of all modes is also same. MAT exam is conducted phase wise in February, May, September and December. In each phase MAT PBT, MAT CBT and MAT IBT exam are conducted multiple times. Candidates can appear for MAT any number of times they want. Score of the latest MAT attempt will be considered for admission. So, candidates must download the scorecard of the last attempt they have taken. The candidates are supposed to download their scorecards of the attempt/s made by them, by using the login credentials. In the dashboard, the option to download the MAT scorecard is given. The candidates can download their by using their application number and password.

MAT Intelligence and Critical section is a moderately difficult section. Candidates need to prepare for this section in 2-3 months by preparing from the following books. These books are recommended by MBA experts:

The Mathematical Skills section of MAT carries 40 questions and which belong to Arithmetic, Geometry, Mensuration Algebra and Number System.
