The MBA selection process  at Thakur Institute of Management Studies and Research (TIMSR) is based on merit and entrance exams. The eligibility criteria for admission to the TIMSR MBA programme  is a minimum of 50% aggregate marks for graduation from a recognised university. The selection process includes  Written Aptitude Test (WAT), Group Discussion (GD) and Personal Interview (PI). The weight given to each part of the selection process may vary from year to year. MAT scores are only one of the criteria for B-school admissions. Applicants are initially selected based on their MAT score or cutoffs for further rounds of  MBA colleges that admit 80-90 percent in MAT 2023.

With an 86 percentile in MAT, your admission chances to Thakur Institute of Management Studies and Research (TIMSR) for MBA depend on the chosen specialization. Meeting or exceeding the minimum MAT percentiles for Operations, Systems, and Entrepreneurship & Innovation increases your likelihood of acceptance. However, falling slightly below the requirements for Marketing and Finance may impact admission prospects. MAT Entrance Examination has a total of 200 questions which are divided into 5 sections - Language and Comprehension, Intelligence and Critical Reasoning, Data Analysis and Data Sufficiency, Mathematical Skills and Indian - Global Environment. 40 questions are asked from each section as follows - 1) Language and Comprehension - 40 questions. 2) Intelligence and Critical Reasoning - 40 questions. 3) Data Analysis and Data Sufficiency - 40 questions. 4) Mathematical Skills - 40 questions. 5) Indian and Global Environment - 40 questions. Note : there is no sectional timing for the MAT examination however candidates are advised to not spend much time in the Indian and Global Environment section since it is not going to be considered for percentage calculation. Refer to the official website of MAT, for more information about the examination. 

The selection process for an MBA depends upon the college to which a student is applying for or applying to. Each such college or university has its way of selecting students and it depends upon the description of the college. Now, coming to the most used process for selection in an MBA programme is a group discussion round followed by a personal interview round and then the student needs to wait for the list of candidates that have been selected after the process. Some top B- Schools in India do not accept the score of MAT and therefore a student might be asked to show the results of some other commpetitive exams that he or she has taken part in.
