The eligibility criteria for MAKAUT admission vary depending on the course the candidates are applying for. However, the general eligibility criteria for undergraduate courses is that candidate should have passed Class 12 from a recognised board with a minimum of 45% aggregate. Also, the candidate must have passed the WBJEE exam conducted by the West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination Board. Moreover, for postgraduate courses, candidates must have a Bachelor's degree in engineering, technology, or a related field from a recognised university with a minimum of 50% aggregate. Also, candidates must have passed the MAKAUT PG entrance exam.

During Maulana Abul Kalam Azad University of Technology (MAKAUT) placements 2022, overall 85 students were placed and one student opted for higher studies during MAKAUT placement 2022. According to the placement data 2022, four MBA students and one BCA student were placed in 2022. Moreover, the highest placements offers was INR 19 LPA during MAKAUT placements according to the annual report 2021. Additionally, some of the companies who visited the campus include TCS, Capgemini, Alumnus Software, Tata Consultancy Services, Eorksbot Applications Private Limited, Wipro, Cognizant, Qspider, etc.

MAKAUT is a government college, while Techno India is a private college. MAKAUT also has a larger alumni network, but Techno India has more industry connections. Moreover, when compared according to the fees, MAKAUT B.Tech fees range between INR 24 K - INR 39.6 Lacs whereas Techno India B.Tech fees range between INR 2.68 Lacs - INR 6.32 Lacs. Both the colleges accept JEE Main WBJEE for B.Tech admissions.

MAKAUT CET (Common Entrance Test) is a state-level entrance exam which is conducted by the Maulana Abul Kalam Azad University of Technology (MAKAUT) for admission to undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in engineering and technology. Moreover, the MAKAUT CET is a computer-based test (CBT) which has 100 multiple-choice questions and the duration of the exam is 120 minutes. MAKAUT CET is held in two phase where the first phase is for admission to undergraduate courses, and the second phase is for admission to postgraduate courses.

MAKAUT offers safe and healthy environment for the students. The university provides modern amenities with state-of-the-art infrastructure to its students and is spread over an area of 40 acres of land at Haringhata, District Nadia, provided by the Government of West Bengal. The facilities provided by the university include sports, library, MAKAUT WB centers, etc. The university also has hostel facilities both for boys and girls with various facilities.

Candidates seeking admission to B.Tech must have a valid score in WBJEE. Those willing to get admission in the second year must appear for JELET (for Lateral Entry). In addition to this, MAKAUT also conducts JEMAT for admission to MBA and Maharashtra courses. Moreover, the university also accepts a few more state/ national-level exams for admission which include WBJEE. PGET, UGC NET (including JRF)/ CSIR NET for admission to other UG, PG and doctoral-level programmes.

MAKAUT offers approximately over 80 UG, PG Diploma doctoral and Certificate courses across its seven schools and more than 100 UG and PG programmes via 196 affiliated colleges. All these programmes are offered in numerous streams, I. e. Engineering, Management, Science and Software & IT, among others.
