Yes, since you have done mechanical engineering and also have work experience. You can pursue MBA in operations management. As per me, start preparing for CAT 2017 from now on and try to score good percentile and get admission in the top institutions. Also, two years of work experience is considered ideal for pursuing MBA.

For GD, you should regularly read a newspaper and make a group with those students, who are preparing for same and do mock GD.

Eligibility criteria for appearing in XAT to seek admission in XLRI is a recognised Bachelor's degree of minimum three years duration or equivalent in any discipline. Those students who are completing their final examination by June in the year of start of MBA degree at XLRI are also eligible to appear for XAT.

For pgdm (equivalent of mba) there is gd pi process in all colleges
For mms(mba of colleges affiliated to mumbai university) the admission is through centralised admission process online hence no gd pi
Many people opt for mms since it is proper master degree and pgdm is diploma equivalent
