If your target is MBA Finance, then you are advised to do B.Com (Hons). It will not only help you in your studies during MBA but also help you in obtaining industry recognized professional certifications such as CFA CMA etc.

Don't go just by the hearsay. The latest research says that only 7% of MBAs are getting jobs and it's because they don't have the required skills. If you are doing any job these days you need to spend time for establishing yourself and growth. Once you have done that, it becomes easier to survive. Any profession has its pros and cons so the best way would be to do what you enjoy.

For private sector, if you want to go for MBA, it hardly matters because what matters the most incorporates is soft skills you have and attitude and overall I must say somehow it adds value to your resume if somewhat in government sector.

The mathematical answer to your question is quite straight forward to calculate. The median salary out of a Stanford MBA is $125K with an offer rate of 94%, so the expected salary at graduation is $116K. So you will spend $200K for a 1st year return of $116K. Then you can add other things, like expected growth, opportunity cost, some kind of value to intangibles and happiness. If you want you can even throw in some black swan events: If I go to Harvard and start a company with a classmate and an insane exit, I will make $X, but the time for that is Y (discount it over 7 years assuming it is VC funded) and the probability of it is Z (wh

Hello Dhaval,It is very nice of you to think of doing your MBA after graduation in electrical engineering. After graduating as an engineer, there are two routes open for a student. One in the technological field of going in for M.Tech or MS, and then subsequent Research and then a job. The alternative path is to do MBA, become a generalist and then have a different career path all together. Both these have equal votaries and both these have equal chances of success. In view of the foregoing it's your decision to follow the path which you feel is right for you. Best wishes to you.

Not many companies look at the graduation scores as a criteria for shortlisting, but there might be a few who would consider the same. Be prepared with an answer for it, also try to score well in post-graduation to cover up a bit. Any B-School which you want to enter will for sure give some weightage to the graduation marks, that weightage entirely varies from college to college.
