Selection for B.E./B.Tech programme in MCET - Murshidabad College of Engineering and Technology is given on the basis of the entrance exams along with good academic records. Candidates with a 10+2 level of education are considered for the purpose of admission in which, the core subjects should have Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics. Most of the students get selected on the basis of WBJEE or JEE Main ranks. Merit, preferences, and availability of seats are taken care of by the counseling process. Direct admissions can be there under management quota as well.

The tentative result date for the West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination (WBJEE) 2025 is June 2025. The admit card for WBJEE 2025 is expected to be released in April 2025.  The WBJEE is a state-level exam conducted by the West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination Board (WBJEEB). It is required for admission to engineering, pharmacy, and architecture courses in various universities, government colleges, and self-financing engineering and technological institutes in West Bengal.  The WBJEE 2024 exam was held on April 28, 2024. Online registration for WBJEE 2024 was open from December 28, 2023 to February 5, 2024.

MCET is a private self-financed college located at Berhampore in West Bengal. It was established in 1998, and Maulana Abul Kalam Azad University of Technology (MAKAUT) affiliated with it as well as the All India Council for Technical Education approves it. Since it's a private college, then it's independently run along with a separate fee and admission process.

 MCET - Murshidabad College of Engineering and Technology offers only BTech course. The total tuition fee for the four yar BTech course ranges between INR 2.5 Lakhs and INR 2.7 Lakhs deending on the specializations in which the student is interested. The college offers seven specializations in BTech.
